Submitting to SEL:
SEL Studies in English Literature 1500-1900
SEL invites historical and critical essays of moderate length (ca. 6,250 words including endnotes, double-spaced, in at least 12-point) that contribute significantly to the understanding of British literature, 1500-1900. Typescripts should be double-spaced throughout, including inset quotations and endnotes, and should be prepared in conformity with the Chicago Manual of Style. Please do not submit computer disk until final revisions of accepted articles are complete. We will not consider articles being submitted simultaneously elsewhere, nor will we print essays to appear in a book within a year of publication by SEL. Those wishing to omit their identities from manuscripts may do so, but should include a cover letter.
Manuscripts submitted for publication should be addressed to Rice University, SEL Editors - MS 46, P.O. Box 1892, Houston TX 77251-1892. If sending via overnight courier, the physical address is 6100 Main St., Houston TX 77005-1892. Send two copies with SASE or SAE/sufficient stamps or international postage coupons for return. Receipt of manuscripts will be acknowledged by postcard. Editorial decisions often take a minimum of four months.
